Southampton Online Auction
In a forgotten storeroom of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital 120 artworks were recently discovered dating from the 1950s to the 1980s. They include paintings and prints by nationally recognized artists like William de Kooning, Alexander Calder and Dan Flavin plus Hamptons artists Jimmy Ernst, Rocco Liccardi, Robert Gwathmey and many, many more. The hospital, desperate to convert the space for storing COVID-19 supplies, recently found the forgotten storeroom and asked the Southampton History Museum to organize a sale to benefit both organizations. This miracle discovery, during a time of reduced fundraising activities, is a much need boon to both organizations. This online art auction is dedicated to the memory of Rose de Rose.
