Hutchinson nautical instruments 152 State St. Boston Mass.  The log documents the yachts 1914 cruising season from the 23rd of May to September.  Cruising area was Bristol RI to Bar Harbor, being fond of Marblehead.  Also participated in the New York Yacht club cruise.  13 3/4 x 8 3/4. Late 19th Century US Navy officer's dress sword by A. Schuman and Co.  Sword blade is engraved with scroll ornaments, anchors, rope, and maker's name A. Schuman and Co. and an officer's name BX Somers.  Leather scabbard with brass ornamentation including rope coils in relief, eye rings, and sea serpent at tip.  Handle has sea serpent and attached woven tassel. Handle grip is wound in braided brass wire. Condition: good.  Length in scabbard 36".
